ABOUT THE COVER ARTWORK
“SUPERNOVA” BY MAGGIE LYNCH
“When I thought about chaos my first thought was space. Our universe is in constant flux and with that comes chaos. I don’t have a large knowledge of space or astrophysics, but as an artist I’ve always had a love affair with viewing the ever-changing sky above me. The definition of a supernova is literally, “dramatic and catastrophic destruction…marked by one final explosion.” From my understanding, a supernova disturbs the equilibrium of our so very complicated universe. Even though they disturb our universe, there are stars still sitting among the sky when a supernova occurs. To me that is a picture perfect example of chaos vs equilibrium. I am a digital illustrator so my immediate thought was to carefully illustrate a beautiful supernova to abstract it into art.”
